Drink Your Rye at
The Vault Lounge.
After the Whiskey Rebellion, it would be a long time before higher powers dictated how people could enjoy their rye, and it would be big blow to Meadville Rye. In 1916 as the company was producing more barrels than ever, the local temperance movement convinced officials to not renew liquor licenses in Crawford County, nearly three years ahead of the Volstead Act and Prohibition. While being a dry county may have shut down the company, it couldn’t shut down people’s thirsts. Quite the opposite in fact. In short order The Tribune Republican would decry the presence of eighteen different speakeasies within three hundred feet of the County Trust Building at the corner of Chestnut and Market Streets! Seems not everyone was ready to give up their rye.
In the same way Meadville Rye Whiskey’s heritage represents the spirit of the Whiskey Rebellion, The Vault Lounge offers a setting that harkens back to the days when people who liked to have a good time and a stiff drink did so in backrooms and basements. Lots of places today claim they are speakeasies with cheap gimmicks and cliche decor, but few offer the authenticity you can only experience in an actual 1930s bank vault.
Take the taste of Meadville Rye Whiskey to the next level at The Vault Lounge, an exclusive event venue located within the Crawford Trust Building in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
